    Nashville heavyweights Lost Hollow play the Birthplace

    The Beginning festival is now in its fifth year and runs from 10th October until 27th October as we celebrate the birth of Dylan 105 years ago with a varied programme of top class entertainment from as far afield as Nashville and down the road in Swansea. Tickets sell quickly for our events so book early.

    A great evening of poetry in Dylan’s front parlour to launch The Beginning festival leading up to Dylan’s birthday on 27th October. Seventh Quarry Press publisher Peter Thabit Jones has assembled a group of leading Swansea poets including Christopher Norris, Jean Salkilld and Julie-Anne Grey plus the prolific American writer Jim Gronvold with the UK launch of his latest collection Cogs Turning published by Seventh Quarry Press.

    Tommy and Lorrie Harden have been described as an emotional powerhouse and now for one night only it’s a chance for enjoy an intimate evening of music and chat.

    Saturday 19th October 5.00 – 7.00pm Song Writing Circle
    If you’ve every wanted to compose a song here’s the chance with a couple of the world’s leading experts – Tommy and Lorrie. We will discuss techniques and between us we will put together a Dylan Birthplace themed song which is bound to be a No 1 hit!!!

    Under Milk Wood Exhibition, Uplands Tour and much more –
    26th and 27th October

    To celebrate the 105th anniversary of Dylan’s birth we have a great two day programme of events starting with an Uplands Tour organised by National Waterfront Museum and run by Peter Thabit Jones.

    No sooner is that over than we start preparing for the launch of a fabulous exhibition of Under Milk Wood characters by the artist and photographer Seimon Pugh-Jones with music from some of the characters.

    Seimon uniquely uses friends and neighbours as the models for his characters – or are they caricatures? You to judge? Two of those – Lorraine King – who plays with Seimon in the band Welshcakes – and West End star Steve Balsamo lead an evening of music inspired by Under Milk Wood and whatever else they fancy!

    Dylan’s Birthday Party
    Sunday 27th October 2.00 to 4.30pm

    There’s nothing like a good birthday party and having one for Dylan has become something of a Birthplace tradition. Not only will there be afternoon tea as described by Dylan’s daughter Aeronwy including jelly, marmite sandwiches, birthday cake with Smarties and lots more for children and adults.

    Topping that is music from the band Welshcakes (you might ask them why they chose that name!) with their own brand of folk
