  • May 14th has been celebrated for several years as International Dylan Thomas Day (Dylan Day/Dydd Dylan for short) and the Leeds Library is joining in with an hour of poetry in honour of the self-proclaimed “Rimbaud of Cwmdonkin Drive”. Join several local poets each of whom will be reading their favourite Dylan Thomas poem and one of their own works. In addition there will be a reading from Thomas’ famous verse play Under Milk Wood – first read on stage at the Poetry Centre, New York on May 14, 1953. In between extracts from Dylan Thomas’s letters will give some insight into his poetry craft and his worries.

There will be room too for any audience member who wishes to read a favourite Thomas poem or prose piece that they like. There will be Dylan Thomas themed competitions that anyone can enter.

Come along to celebrate the great Welsh poet and have some fun on Dydd Dylan!
