    2023 marks 70 years since Dylan Thomas first read Under Milk Wood, his narrative play for radio, to a public audience that bawled its bravos in ovation after ovation. Under Milk Wood is ‘a one-day cycle that follows the activities of the characters: a motley crew of variously hen pecked, overbearing, drunken, promiscuous townspeople – as fantastic as their dreams – through the morning, afternoon and into the second night of their small, Welsh, seaside town of Llareggub, a ‘town that never was’.’ So, let us begin at the beginning …
