OX18 4RYDescribed by The Times as `probably the most enchanting work for broadcasting ever written`, Under Milk Wood was premiered by the BBC in 1954. It tells the impressionistic story of one day in the life of the fictional (and anadromic) Welsh fishing town of Llareggub, with its very human characters, from stiffly conventional to wildly picaresque. This rehearsed reading is semi-staged, to help bridge the gap between radio and theatre. Our director has already produced Under Milk Wood in London, and reviewer Ben Horslen remarked on its ‘precision, character and wit’. But our production has an extra dimension. The highly talented amateur cast for this one-off performance are all local to the Burford area. Our play is the tribute of one small town to another.
