CF5 2LNPraised by the great Richard Burton as “a comic masterpiece”, Under Milk Wood by Wales’ most celebrated writer – Dylan Thomas, is a drama that is best described as laugh-out-loud funny yet at times also deeply poignant. Catch it here before this hugely enjoyable production heads to Malta.
For One Night Only! –
Theatre Bar open before show and at interval
The play portrays 24 hours in the life of the many eccentric and hilarious characters who inhabit a mythical small seaside town in South Wales, where Dylan Thomas – one of the most admired and popular poets and playwrights of the 20th century – grew up and spent most of his life. It is also where he found the raw material for many of the play’s fascinating and well-observed characters.
Cardiff-based Moonlight Theatre has assembled a highly-talented cast and the play’s director, John Rhys Thomas, is a former chair of the Dylan Thomas Society who has previously taken his touring productions of the play to New York, Harvard and Canada to great acclaim.
The play’s stunning lyrical language and imagery, its extraordinary people and its universal themes have made it an international favourite, translated into some 30 other languages. The play will be staged at Insole Court on Saturday 12 October before visiting Malta to perform at the island’s University Theatre in Valletta from Thursday 17 to Sunday 20 October.
