  • Brown Paper Bag Theatre Co. present Dylan Thomas’ Under Milk Wood: A Play for Voices

Thomas’ iconic piece of literature explores a day in the life of the inhabitants of the fictional small Welsh fishing village of Llareggub. Lyrically written as a radio play, this stage adaptation explores the eclectic mix of characters; experiencing their dreaming fantasies and their bizarre and sometimes eccentric actions. The story is told through the eyes of a retired fisherman – a castaway, introducing the village folk and their daily routines, with the aid of his own fictional voice of reason. Both funny and deeply moving, Dylan’s best-loved characters are brought to life on stage. We meet Polly Garter, Captain Cat, Nogood Boyo, Reverend Eli Jenkins and the impressionable appearances of the deceased sailors, the petrified ghosts of dead husbands and a postman who verbally delivers the mail after his wife has steamed it open.
