  • Parthian Books and Cover to Cover Bookshop are hosting an illustrated talk by Hilly Janes. UGLY LOVELY is a new book based on the photographs taken by friend of Dylan Thomas, Ethel Ross.

With a lively interest in the arts, she observed many sides of Dylan Thomas, and her deep love of his work also made her protective of his reputation, so damaged after his death.

As the niece of Ethel Ross and the daughter of artist Alfred Janes, writer and lecturer Hilly Janes has been hearing about Dylan Thomas since her childhood on the Gower peninsula. She is the author of The Three Lives of Dylan Thomas, a biography based on portraits of the writer painted by her father.

The beautiful collection of photographs in Ugly Lovely is both a fascinating history of Swansea and Carmarthenshire, and a compelling tribute to Dylan Thomas and the places that inspired him from his earliest years.

Join us for an ‘election free’ evening on Thursday 8th June at 7.30pm at the United Reform Tabernacle, opposite Cover to Cover.

Tickets £2 available from Cover to Cover. Refreshments served and the book will be on sale at a special event price!
