SA1 1TYRichard Burton had at one time been lauded as the heir apparent to Olivier but in the eyes of many he squandered his rare talent in pursuit of fame, celebrity, privilege, wild living..women…and drink. Dylan Thomas had similarly been a bright, early talent who gathered around him ardent fans, but in the eyes of many squandered his rare talent in pursuit of fame, celebrity, privilege, wild living…women…and drink.
This world premiere presentation is inspired by actual events in Austria in 1982 when Burton was filming ”Wagner” – the extraordinary epic directed by Tony Palmer – which featured Lord Olivier, Sir John Gielgud and Sir Ralph Richardson (the only time these three knights worked together).
The script centres around the friendship between the legendary Welsh pair, as Burton, in a drunken stupor, is visited by Olivier, Gielgud, Richardson….and Dylan!
The script has been described by internationally acclaimed director and Burton biographer, Tony Palmer as ‘REMARKABLE’
