  • WWBA presents the seventh season of its signature series Walking with Whitman: Poetry in Performance. New for 2017 is a community open mic! After a musical prelude, the main event begins at 8 pm with the featured poet, Ian Griffiths.

Poet Ian Griffiths was born in Swansea, South Wales in 1954. Growing up, he was deeply influenced by the nature of the Gower peninsula as well as the untimely death of famed local poet Dylan Thomas.

As a teen, Griffiths began giving performances of Thomas’s poetry and prose, which developed into the creation of his first collection of poetry, “Singing In My Chains.”

“Conversations with Birds”–now in its second printing–was published in 2016 and has been praised for being a total immersion in Thomas’s world told through Thomas’s poetry and prose, bathed in his intrinsically Welsh musicality.
