  • John Goodby, an expert on Dylan Thomas, outlines some of the lesser-known aspects of the poet’s writing life.

These include the recently found ‘fifth notebook’, a memoir from Thomas’s family GP, and the re-emergence of the long-forgotten poem ‘A Dream of Winter’, which Goodby found and included in Thomas’s New Collected Poems.

You also hear about Thomas’s little-known trip to Iran in 1951 and his exchange with the film-maker Ebrahim Golestan.

The event features the National Poetry Library’s bust of Dylan Thomas, which was found a decade ago in the basement of Royal Festival Hall.

The event ends with the chance to ask questions about anything you’ve always wanted to know about Thomas, one of the 20th century’s most notorious and celebrated poets.
