  • Dylan Thomas is considered to be one of the greatest Welsh poets of all time. Though his life was short and full of chaos, he was a prolific writer who produced poems, short stories, broadcasts and a novel. His play-for-voices, Under Milk Wood, is arguably his most famous work, and this exhibition celebrates the 70th anniversary of the first performance of the play in New York.

Come with us on a journey from Manhattan to Milk Wood, exploring Dylan’s time in New York, the creation of Llareggub and its characters and the lasting legacy of Under Milk Wood.

    Among the key exhibits are:

The original Under Milk Wood script used by Dylan for the 1953 recording
The original New York recording, which is the only version with Dylan narrating
A collection of unique portraits of Dylan in New York by artist Peter Evershed, and portraits of Under Milk Wood characters by one of Wales’ great artists, Ceri Richards
