GL50 2RHAn illustrated talk by Jeff Towns aka ‘ The Dylan Thomas Guy’
An internationally acclaimed authority on Dylan Thomas presents this exciting talk on the woman who photographed Dylan. Nora Summers was responsible for some of the iconic images of Wales’ most famous bard Dylan Thomas, but the inmost details of her life, bucolic and populated by bohemians, eccentrics and mavericks, have remained largely unknown until now. A talented painter and photographer who revelled in documenting the picturesque, communal Arcadia she spent her whole life constructing and inhabiting. Her relationships with Thomas and, more predominantly, his wife, Caitlin Macnamara, birthed creativity and strife in equal measure. Jeff Towns’ picture book and biography – Dylan Thomas and the Bohemians draws from the personal archives of Gabriel Summers, Nora’s grandson, and offers an intimate and revealing portrait of both Summers and the creative company she kept. In this exciting event Jeff Towns divulges the wild stories behind Nora’s relationship with Dylan and Caitlin and talks us through some of the world’s most famous photographs of this iconic poet.
