Guy Masterson: Under Milk Wood, The Haymarket, Basingstoke

  • Date:

    Tuesday March 28th

  • The Haymarket
    Wote Street,
    Basingstoke
    RG21 7NW
  • Celebrating a day in the life of ‘Llareggub’ – a small sea town somewhere in Wales – all 69 ebullient inhabitants in Dylan Thomas’ timeless masterpiece are hilariously recreated in an amazing feat of memory and virtuosity.

Complemented by a stunning original soundscape, it’s bawdy and beautiful, sad and sensual and, through the music of language, leaves indelible, unforgettable images of humanity.

Made famous by Richard Burton’s recording in 1954, Guy Masterson (Burton’s nephew) brings Under Milk Wood to vivid life on stage. This astonishing solo performance premiered in 1994 and has been performed over 2000 times from Swansea to New Zealand to the West End to Calcutta. Enchanting audiences wherever it has played, this mesmerising show has been working its magic for over 23 years. Audiences will remember Masterson from his astonishing sell-out solo performance of Animal Farm here in 2013. This show is simply not to be missed.
