  • The Wheatsheaf
    25 Rathbone Place,
    W1T 1JB

  • For ONE NIGHT ONLY – Commemorating the 66th anniversary of the genius that was Dylan Thomas, Guy Masterson, widely regarded as the finest exponent of his work, recites a selection of 10 favourite poems and 3 wonderful short stories – including A CHILD’S CHRISTMAS IN WALES

Hear the masterpieces DO NOT GO GENTLE INTO THAT GOOD NIGHT, DEATH SHALL HAVE NO DOMINION and FERN HILL. Lose yourselves in the descriptive genius of A VISIT TO GRANDPA’S and HOLIDAY MEMORY… and see Christmas unfold through the eyes of a young lad in Swansea, marvelling at the snow, ice-bound cats, skating postmen, dolphin-like uncles, sherry-sipping aunties, toys and sweets and stockings, roasted chestnuts, useful and useless presents!

In the intimate setting of the upstairs room at the Wheatsheaf in Fitzrovia, where Dylan spent many a night at the bar AND met his wife Caitlin!, Olivier Award winner, Guy Masterson, will deliver a perfect “rarebit” of lyrical magic and delicious pre-Christmas cheer…

Masterson was introduced to Dylan Thomas by his great-uncle, the great Welsh actor, Richard Burton, in 1981. In 1994 he created the World’s first solo-performance of Dylan’s masterpiece, UNDER MILK WOOD which attracted a Edinburgh Festival Best Actor nomination from The Stage in 2003. He has since performed it over 2000 times all around the world to universal acclaim. His second Thomas show, FERN HILL & OTHER DYLAN THOMAS – won him The Stage Best Actor Award at Edinburgh in 2001.

Space is strictly limited (40 seats only) so book early to avoid disappointment!
