The Forgotten Burton: P.H. Burton, Schoolmaster, Playwright, Producer and Performer

This talk by the biographer and historian Angela V.John, with the participation of Fluellen Theatre Company, will explore the life of the boy from Mountain Ash who became P.H. Burton, Port Talbot’s schoolmaster extraordinaire, and Richard Burton’s mentor.

Philip Burton was also a writer and dramatist (whose interwar play ‘Granton Street’ was revived last year, to great acclaim, by Fluellen), and a BBC producer who worked with Dylan Thomas, before becoming a musical theatre director and performer of Shakespearean lecture recitals in the United States.
