We’re proud and pleased to share with you the ‘winners’ of the 2021 Love the Words poetry competition. This year, we decided to forego the competition element in favour of a grand and global poetry share, which means that everyone was a winner!
We’ve included as many poems as we can, and for those who sent more than 10 poems, we’ve chosen a selection. In the end, we received over 200 poems, from a total of 20 countries, so we feel this is an excellent achievement, a generous endeavour on the part of the writers, and a brilliant chance, for readers everywhere, to enjoy a variety of voices, views, and vividly written poems, all so different, yet all responding to the great poet Dylan Thomas and, in particular, a line from his poem The force that through the green fuse drives the flower – “How time has ticked a heaven round the stars”.
Thank you to all who entered, and please do share the anthology on social media where you can, using the hashtags #DylanDay and #LovetheWords so we can reshare. But otherwise, here’s the anthology, do take a look, and we sincerely hope you enjoy reading these poems as much as we have.
